Empower Our Families
God has a unique design for the family as the focal point of society. The foundation of that design is marriage between one man and one woman. Parenting, education, and other issues essential to creating a solid foundation for the next generation, are interrelated with the fundamental concept of marriage. Many may often connect family breakdown with generational poverty, poor academic performance of children, prison terms, violence, and crime. However, defining the breakdown of family in terms of those issues exclusively, translates into understanding family breakdown as an issue that only affects minorities and working poor. All Americans must see the urgent need to protect all American families, black or white. As Americans, we are inextricably connected. This is a time when the entire nation needs to decide whether it will honor God’s original pattern for families or attempt to go its own way. Let’s speak out to preserve the definition of marriage for the generation to come!
We Can Create Wealth
The desire for sustainable socio-economic advancement shapes the lives of all Americans. Wealth can be passed on generationally. Access to opportunity for advancement, in part, determines economic outcomes. In the United States, access tends to be distributed disproportionately between Whites and Blacks, with black having a more limited opportunity structure. Socio-economic status and racial background are often synergistic in determining one’s ability to create and maintain wealth and improve the life chances for their families to the third and fourth generation. While America is a prosperous nation, the adverse effects of poverty still remain. The pernicious social outcomes of poverty are most acute in minority communities.

Having an education can keep an individual from living an impoverished life. It can also allow one to be the embodiment of a “rags to riches story”. Aristotle said, “…The fate of empires depends on the education of youth.” However, the current status of public education in many states leaves many parents and students questioning whether or not policy makers and policy stakeholders understand that the fate of the United States depends on the education of our youth.
We know that we need healthcare reform to ensure all Americans get the high-quality, affordable care they need and deserve. Under the status quo, too many Americans can’t get the affordable care they need when they fall ill. But health reform must make health care more than just sick care. There must be an aspect of preventative health as well. There are three main problems with America’s health-care system:
